Honai Resort: Best place to stay at in Ubud, Bali

Treat yo self!

Every once in a while you have to focus on yourself and do something completely selfish.

Often, individuals reward themselves by traveling to a tropical island destination such as Bali, Indonesia.

But even travel to the "Island of the Gods" can be stressful with a mounting pressure to see and do as much as possible in a short time. Therefore, I recommend that you slow down and "treat yo self" by staying at the Honai Resortin Ubud, Bali.Let me introduce you to the Honai Resort by sharing my experience upon arrival, testing of the amenities and adventures at their organized Yoga Retreat.

Arrival

From the start, Honai Resort demonstrated their punctuality by arranging transportation that delivered me directly to the resort, on time, with no hiccups.

Arriving at the resort, I was greeted by sincere smiles from the staff that guided me through a smooth check-in process followed by a tour of the photogenic property.

Upon entering my room, I audibly laughed in amazement by the modern-rustic features that were organized with a touch of minimalism in what is described as "a modern interpretation of the traditional Indonesian Honai, or round house."

Stone and wood materials beautifully complemented the room layout with two elements that caught my attention the most. 1) The large stone bathtub in the bathroom 2) the spacious balcony overlooking the jewel of the resort, the pool.

Once settled, I ventured out onto the property to review the resort's amenities with the first stop being the pool.

Amenities

Centerpiece to the Honai Resort, the infinity edge pool is an oasis surrounded by lush tropical planting and pool decking furnished with chaise lounges, tea tables and sun umbrellas.

Separated from the pool by a densely vegetated screen wall, the Darbha Spa houses four private rooms and one couple's room "where you encounter sounds, sights, smell, tastes and textures that heighten your connection to the world around you and to your inner self."

Above the spa lies the open air yoga studio that breathes in the adjacent rice fields with its voluminous bamboo and thatched dome ceiling "where guests can embrace the aura and mystique of Bali all around them."

As a borrowed amenity, the surrounding landscape of terraced rice fields in the countryside of Ubud, Bali act as a natural catalyst for relaxation by offering peace during the day and hypnotizing organic noises at night.

With beautifully designed amenities, I participated in the resort's first Adventure Yoga Retreat consisting of yoga and meditation classes, spa treatments and outdoor recreational activities.

Adventure Yoga Retreat

Centered around Hatha and Tantara yoga, the retreat package included twice daily yoga classes taught by Wayan Windia, an eight year professional, at various locations including the sandy shores of Pandawa beach to the bellowing belly of Mount Batur.

To clear the mind, two meditation classes were taught with a focus on breathing techniques, grounding and self reflection exercises that, upon completion, left one feeling like a weight was lifted off one's shoulders and mind.

Darbha Spa treatments were strategically scheduled with one at the beginning of the week to release the tension from life prior to Bali and the second after a strenuous day of recreational activity.

One of my favorite recreational activities was the downhill biking tour of Ubud that started from the caldera's edge of Mount Batur and winded through fruit farms, traditional villages and serene rice fields.

Mount Batur is sacred enough that it warranted a second visit the next day for a two hour, one-way, trekking tour beginning at 4:00am where one can view the sunrise over the caldera's edge followed by a morning Yoga session.

The hike to the top of Mount Batur was bittersweet as it was the last major activity the day before departure, leaving one anxious with the reality of returning to the "real world," but also perfectly summarizing the island of Bali in a beautiful and powerful panoramic.

All good things must come to an end.

At the conclusion of the trip, I was completely satisfied with my experience at the Honai Resort starting with my arrival, followed by use of the amenities and ending with my journey through the adventure yoga retreat.

The arrival experience was without hiccup, the staff genuinely friendly and accommodations are a well designed modern take on traditional Balinese architecture.

Amenities throughout the resort were beautifully designed and I would recommend the pool, spa and yoga studio to anyone.

Honai Resort's Adventure Yoga Retreat is a great experience for those who seek to experience an active and healthy variety of what Bali can offer in a peaceful setting.

I highly recommend “finding your own new horizon at Honai Resort" so begin the booking process by visiting their website for a world class guest experience.
